“If you gimme a ride in one of those white-pointy-things, I’ll give your boys a concert.”

In late summer of 1980, Willie Nelson preferred Laughlin AFB’s living accommodations and stayed there while filming a movie up in Uvalde, TX. While being given a tour of the base and watching the T-38s flying in the overhead pattern, Willie is said to have declared the above quote to his host, the Wing Commander.

Willie got a ride in one of the white-pointy-things, and we got a concert!
